The Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission was established to protect, develop or use natural resources, including water resources, located within the Township.
The advisory group reviews applications for development filed with the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment and recommends steps to assure the preservation and protection of natural resources. It also has the responsibility of recommending policies and practices to the Township Council, the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment concerning environmental issues.
Other tasks include promoting environmental awareness and protection programs to the community and public schools, assisting with the street tree planting program, and working together with various other groups to preserve and improve the open space in Berkeley Heights. Please LIKE the Commission’s Facebook page to get regular updates. Please send any questions or suggestions to EC@bhtwp.com.
Usually 1st and 3rd Monday of every month; 7:30 pm via Zoom
Agendas are available prior to the meetings. Minutes are available following approval.

Submit an application to become a volunteer on the Environmental Commission.
The Township welcomes and encourages residents who have specific experience applicable to each Committee, Board and Commission to apply for available positions. Please note that there are only a few volunteer opportunities available each year as there are staggered terms for members of each Committee, Board and Commission. However, many committees are always in need of extra volunteers for various events throughout the year.
