The Mayor’s Youth Council is running the first ever Scarecrow Contest in Berkeley Heights, starting now through November 22. Members of the community are encouraged to create a scarecrow for display in town.
The Mayor’s Youth Council is excited for the new project in town, and hope that submissions will bring the community together. By organizing an activity that centers around the fall season, it is a perfect activity for families to take part in. Members of the council hope to make the event a tradition and are excited to see the creativity of the town residents.
A winner will be chosen on November 25; the most important aspects of the submissions are originality and creativity. Neatness and artistic interpretation is encouraged, and is included on the rubric when voting for the winner. The final requirement for the scarecrows is that they are stable with a freestanding, upright structure. In order for submissions to be judged and included in the contest, all scarecrows must have a name tag and a short bio which can be filled out on a contact form here.
