[ARCHIVED] Storm Resources - Where to get help to report outages and other issues

Winter Storm Resources Where to get help

Storm Resources - How to get assistance

In storm situations, residents need to know who to call and where to find important information and news updates.  Here's a handy resource to help you through those difficult times (although we hope this isn't necessary!).  Remember the shortcut for future reference:  www.BerkeleyHeights.gov/stormresources

What To Expect with this Storm?

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning, predicting snow starting late Sunday afternoon continuing into Monday - with high snow accumulations expected.  Expect travel on Monday to be difficult, and road closures and highway emergencies are probable.  If you do not need to be on the roads, it is very advisable to stay wherever you are when the storm ramps up on Monday.

Residents are encouraged to follow the Berkeley Heights Police on Facebook, TAPinto Berkeley Heights, and the NJ Office of Emergency Management for storm updates and warnings.

Power Outage: Notify JCP&L ASAP

  • Call (1-888-LIGHTS)
  • Online: Report your outage online
  • TEXT: Text REG to 544487 to get started.  If you are already registered for this service, text OUT to report your outage and then you can text STAT to receive your home's estimated power restoration status.
  • Do NOT call the Berkeley Heights Police Department (BHPD) to report your outage.  You must report to JCP&L

It is CRITICAL that EACH home report their own outage to JCP&L to ensure that JCP&L is away that your home does not have power and so JCP&L can make sure that power to YOUR HOME is restored.  A neighbor reporting is great, but you must also report your own outage.
