The Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission, in partnership with the Union County Parks & Recreation Department, will host the first joint cleanup event on Sunday, May 16 from 1-4 pm. Working with the County, we will have COVID-19 waivers and guidance, as well as support from the County‘s Adopt-a-Park program to accomplish a cleaning program for the County park property along the Passaic River. The cleanup is in preparation of creating a trail network that connects Berkeley Heights with New Providence along the Passaic River.
On Sunday, May 16, volunteers will meet at the north end of Summit Ave closest to the Passaic River. All residents are welcome, including children. The goal will be to pick up litter and clear out existing trails per the Adopt-a-Park program. This will be a great opportunity for us to work outdoors, clean our community parks and work side by side with our County and Township environmental experts.
Please email EC@bhtwp.com if you are interested in attending so that we may expect your attendance and supply the appropriate waiver forms.
