Want to know what is being discussed by the Town Council at its next meeting?
The next Township Council meeting will be held on Tuesday November 23 at 7:00PM. Member of Council, Mayor Devanney, and Administration staff will be participating electronically via ZOOM in this meeting. For this and all future electronic meetings, members of the public will be able to comment by video and comments will also be accepted by email to aminkoff@bhtwp.com or by writer letter to Township Clerk, 29 Park Ave, Berkeley Heights NJ 07922. Comments must be received by the Township Clerk by 4:00 PM on the date of the ZOOM meeting. The meeting ID for the Zoom meeting is http://zoom.us/s/3575747364.
The first item on the agenda is a conference session on the ARP Covid Funds by NW Financial to discuss what the Funds available to the township are and how they can be used.
The second item is a conference session on the Recreation Master Plan prepared by members of the Recreation Commission.
There will be a public hearing and final adoption of the following ordinances:
- An ordinance amending Appendix A – Municipal Land Use Procedures to revise the sign regulations. These revised standards are part of the overall design standards for Berkeley Heights. The general intent of this part of the ordinance is to regulate and control the erection of signs within the Township to ensure an appropriate visual environment, increase property values and assist the general public in the location of various activities and businesses.
- An ordinance amending the Economic Development Committee (EDC) to add an additional representative from the community.
- An ordinance amending the Sewer Service System code to require certain users to enter into end user sewer agreements prior to connection to the township sewer service system.
The council will vote on the following resolutions:
- Approve Bill List dated November 23, 2021 in the amount of $1,013,494.72 for vouchers that have been properly approved for processing and payment.
- Authorize changes to the scope of the Municipal Complex Redevelopment Project.
- Authorize the cancellation of balances in capital improvement Ordinances. The balances are no longer required as the projects have been completed
- Authorize the cancellation of balances in reserves in capital fund. The balances are no longer required as the projects have been completed.
- Approve the insertion of an item of revenue in the 2021 budget of $40,000 for the Kids Recreation – Union County.
- Approve the insertion of an item of revenue in the 2021 budget of $4,000 for Greening Union County.
- Approve the insertion of an item of revenue in the 2021 budget of $6,318 for Municipal Alliance Program.
- Award a contract to Van Cleef Engineering for NJEIB Methane Gas Flare Replacement for the Waste Water Treatment Plant in the amount of $35,000.
- Award a contract to Van Cleef Engineering for the NJEIB Tertiary Filter Replacement for the Waste Water Treatment Plant in the amount of $76,425.
- Authorize a tax settlement for the property located at block 703, Lot 4.
- Authorize a short-term extension of an existing telecommunications lease, which will expire on November 19, 2021 in the amount of $3,201 per month.
- Authorize a permitted extension of construction work hours to Fiserv, Inc. for the site known as 100 Connell Drive.
The Council will introduce an ordinance establishing the Truth, Community Healing, and Inclusion Committee. If the introduction of this ordinance is approved, there will be a public hearing and final vote on this ordinance on December 7, 2021.
