Preview of August 16th Town Council Meeting Agenda

Want to know what is being discussed by the Town Council at its next meeting?

 

The next Township Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 7:00PM in the Berkeley Room at the Municipal Complex, 29 Park Ave.   Members of Council, Mayor Devanney, and Administration staff will be participating in person for this meeting.   For this and all future meetings, members of the public who are not able to attend the meeting in person will be able to comment by email to aminkoff@bhtwp.com or by writing letter to Township Clerk, 29 Park Ave, Berkeley Heights NJ 07922.  Comments must be received by the Township Clerk by 4:00 PM on the date of the meeting.   The meeting ID for attending the meeting via Zoom is http://zoom.us/s/3575747364 (if you need to enter the meeting ID, it is: 357-574-7364); please note that residents will be able to watch the meeting via Zoom but to ask questions, must attend in person or send questions in writing ahead of time following the above-mentioned procedures.

The Environmental Commission will present a proposed update to the township Tree Ordinance as a conference discussion. 

The first item on the agenda is a public hearing and final adoption of the following Ordinance introduced on July 19th:

  • Reappropriating $25,000, including $23,750 of obligations not needed for their original purpose and $1,250 from the Capital Improvement Fund, to provide for the purchase of electric street  signs in Berkeley Heights. 

During the regular agenda, the Council will vote on the following resolutions:

  • Approve Bill List dated August 19, 2022 in the amount of $1,686,767.45 for vouchers that have been properly approved for processing and payment.
  • Accept a $61,440.42 gift from the estate of Gail Schaffer, a former resident of Berkeley Heights, to the Lord-Little Farmstead Trust account; all funds in the trust are used only for restoration and preservation efforts for the Farmstead.
  • Authorize the application for “Kids Recreation Trust Fund” matching grant in the amount of $127,845 for the tennis lights at Columbia Park. 
  • Award a professional services contract to PS&S for Design and Bidding Services – New Enclosed Waste Gas Flare and Hit Water Boiler Systems for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, in an amount not to exceed $198,700.
  • Appoint Stephanie Karpoff to the Board of Health, for a term expiring on December 31, 2024.
  • Authorize an agreement with Negila Engineering Assoc. for the remainder of the Surveying, Engineering, Permitting, Grant Support, and Bidding Services for the West Side Drainage Improvements Project, at a fee not to exceed $290,300.
  • Appoint Joe Deiorio of Holman Frenia Allison, P.C. to serve as the Qualified Purchasing Agent.
