The Veterans Memorial Park Committee invites all residents to celebrate Veterans Day, Friday, November 11th at 8:30 AM at the Veterans Memorial Park located across from the Municipal Complex.
“On Veterans Day, we thank all the brave men and women who donned the uniform and offered their service to our country” said Mayor Angie Devanney. “I encourage all residents to join our veterans as we pay tribute to their courage and heroism.”
The ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park will feature an Honor Guard from VFW Post 6259 followed by a brief program.
Veterans Day honors all members of the Armed Forces who have served our country in uniform. It was originally known as Armistice Day, honoring the end of the First World War, and was renamed as Veterans Day by Act of Congress in 1954 to honor the service of all veterans. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Post 6259 will conduct an additional ceremony at their Post, located at 15 Locust Drive, at 11:11 AM, Residents are encouraged to join the VFW.
The Veterans Day ceremony at Memorial Park is organized by the Veterans Memorial Park Committee. The committee’s activities include annual plantings and restoration work at the Memorial in addition to promoting Veterans issues across the community.
